YEAR 10: AquilaEagle on S2Ki’s first International Community (UK)

Paul Brookes (Paul(UK)) set up www.s2000.org.uk back in late 1999 after he had owned his S2000 for a few months. Honda invited the first 50 Owners to the Goodwood Revival in September 1999 and this sowed the first seed of the UK S2000 Owners Club.

Paul enjoyed meeting the other owners and wanted to meet more, and do some track days. He also felt there was a need to have somewhere to store information about the car to help others. The ‘club’ was purely internet based and involved nothing more than registering as a user on the site, and using the forum there.

In May/June 2000 after talking to Shelley Bond (HondaGal on s2ki.com) the club became the UK Chapter of www.s2000fans.com. Things progressed, and in July 2000 the first UK Trackday was held near Abingdon.

In February 2001 the club forum moved to www.s2000online.com, thanks to Erik Peterson (cthree on s2ki.com). This later became www.s2ki.com, the forum we all know and love today.

By July 2001 the UK forum had 190 registrants and it continued to grow. The UK registrations now stand at over 3500, some people gone but not forgotten.

In August 2004 the UK S2000 Owners Club was officially launched to complement the fantastic forum on S2KI. Membership has grown both for S2KI and S2KUK as a result and S2KUK provides various UK specific benefits to UK based owners.
