Honda Recall for 2006 and 2007 S2000 Brake Boosters
Many of you may already be aware, but in case you haven’t heard…
American Honda has released a statement regarding the brake booster in 2006-2007 model year S2000s (and 2006 Acura RSXs). According to hondanews.com, they will voluntarily recall 5,239 Honda S2000 vehicles from the 2006-2007 model years and 13,113 Acura RSX vehicles from the 2006 model year in the U.S. to inspect and, if needed, replace the brake booster in these vehicles. A production error may have allowed brake booster components to be produced outside of the original specifications, potentially causing decreased brake assistance over time, which could increase the risk of a crash. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue, which was discovered through warranty claim analysis.
Honda announced this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from American Honda. Mailed notification were sent to customers in mid-July 2013. In addition to contacting customers by mail, owners of vehicles from the affected model years may determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling 800-999-1009 and selecting option 4.
