Hey fellow Allegheny S2000 owners!

I recently picked up my second S2000 after being without one for the last 10 years or so. I will certainly try and post some pictures soon but I bought this one:

As it is a 2006 with ~26,000 miles I am interested in getting the valves adjusted soon and looking for recommendations for any service shops in the area that can be recommended.

2006+ DBW cars are infamous for having tight valve clearances from the factory which will eventually burn the valves. Billman has a WARNING thread on this as he's seen many of them.

Good photo essay and videos in the library here on this. Easy. Tedious. Back breaking. Can solve the last one by putting the car on jackstands to raise the engine to a comfortable height. Open the hood to the secret high position. Engine needs to be cold (under 100°F) to do the job right so it's a Saturday morning job. Plan on 2-hours. Just follow the guides. $20 on Amazon buys the "special" socket/screwdriver and a set of bent feeler gauges -- you'll snap the straight ones if you try to bend them. Adjust the exhaust to 0.001" over spec.

Set of new gaskets is best practice but they typically can be reused.

Good time to check compression and, heck, the plugs are out so why not fit a new set?

MY 2006 has a brake booster recall so check the status on that too,

You might want to find a good honda motorcycle mechanic to do it if you are uncomfortable doing it yourself. Most Honda auto techs probably don't do this very often and there is a bit of a "feel" thing involved in knowing how to set them. Motorcycle mechanics do it all the time.

Thanks for the replies! I think I may end up replacing the plugs and doing a leak down test as well, good ideas. I think I am covered on the brake booster recall, but thanks for bringing it up.

Pghs2kid did my valve adjustment last week. Alex did a great job, fast. The car seems to have more power. It was virtually painless. I dropped off my car and drove by later in the evening on way to a friend's house and saw Alex put my car in the garage overnight. Very nice of him. He called to report that the car was finished by 10:30 am the next morning. I definitely recommend having him do it. BTW, because the car is 12 years old, I purchased a new Honda gasket kit from ebay and had Alex install it during reassembly.
