Since August was my month to plan a group drive......i would like to run a route we took at the begining of last year that Jim had planned when he was still here...it took us down to Wheeling, WV stopped at Oglebay for pics and then brought us back through all kinds of back roads that were wide open for some spirited driving......and then finished at the Kings in Bentleyville where we all had a late lunch....it was a blast and drained a full tank of gas for me....how does Saturday August 26 @ 9 AM sound.......we will meet at the Kings in Bentleyville right off I-70 Exit 32 B.......you can't miss it.....its directly off the Exit....right across from the big Pilot Truck Stop....we'll head down to Wheeling from there via I-70 then hit the route planned coming back.
If anyone coming from the North or West of Pittsburgh just wants to meet us down at Wheeling somewhere or on our drive down via I-70......so you don't have to go out of the way to start at Bentleyville post here so we can join up on the way down.....most of us are South of Pittsburgh or to the East......so they will all have to pass that area of I-70 anyway.....so its a good meeting point for most of us and we will also finish there....post who is interested and lets hope we get a great day!!
My pace will be a little more on the Spirited side than the casual cruise once off of I-70....but not out of control like some of the guys at fall colors.....the roads are very rural....and we hardly saw any cars last year....let alone any cops out there....so theres not much to worry about....lots of twists and tight turns.....not alot of straights so it takes about 3 hrs coming back....lot of fun...LATER, BILL
Bill, I'm going to have to pass on this one. August 26th I need 53 people to work. If your drive takes you by any of our events don't be surprised if we drag you out of your cars and give you guys a uniform!
I will likely be a no-show for this. Going in for surgery on the 15th and I don't really expect to be 100% by the 26th - at least not enough for the 3hours down - 3hr drive and 3 hrs back - have fun and post pics!
well well well....taking it back to the roads i grew up on!!!!
I'd love to make it to this drive. I'd probably be on a motorcycle if that's ok..i'll let you know for sure when it gets closer. one good thing about me coming is i do half the Wheeling police forces tax returns and can get out of any ticket!!
