Off one plane and on to the next right away. Lucky me. Coworker was delayed and missed this flight so I have to look for him once he lands in Dubai.

Landed and made it to my hotel. Just grabbed a bite to eat and heading up to my room. Pics to follow.
The Burj Khalifa and the Burj al Arab are crazy in person. The whole country is under construction. Just amazing.
Oh and Yas Marina...holy cow.

The hotel resturant was closing so I flew in and slammed a few plates of "asian buffet" according to the hostess. It was delicious. I think they charged me WEC like $50 USD for it though.

The Asian Buffet had EVERYTHING last night but they closed at 10:30 and were kind enough to let me in at 10:35 to eat. I should have taken pics but I was too busy stuffing my face with some food. It looks like they have a very fresh menu and I swear I saw a sign about 72 hour smoked brisket. I will keep you posted!

So the beard has given me mixed results. The first TSA agent I ran in to thought I was muslim.

My flight from ATL to DXB had a bunch of "contractors" heading to Afghanistan on it and they asked me where I was headed once I landed in the 'stan. I told them DXB was my last stop but wished them safety as they traveled forward.
Success...I think?
Get off the plane and through immigration, get my bag and am successfully navigating my way towards the exit when I hit the "deceleration area". With nothing to declare I try to skip it with a bunch of other Emirati however security let them through and flagged me over to it.
FAILURE!
