Many folks here are no doubt familiar with the great roads we have in the southeastern quarter of the state of Ohio, so I wanted to extend the invitation to the Allegheny folks to attend the most intense driving meet available: The Tomcatt Memorial Meet.

We are keeping this event small this year – mature, die-hard drivers only!

I'm planning a scouting run the first weekend in May - Saturday May 7th, weather permitting, though I can always take the Civic just for scouting.
If anyone is interested in joining me, PM me. We would meet somewhere in the Zanesville/Cambridge area by about 9-10am.

 

The block of rooms will only be held until May 15th.
I've noted that the current price on their website - AAA or AARP included - is substantially higher than our reserved rate.

Going on an exploratory drive with my daughter Anika tomorrow - we'll check out some roads never before explored to my knowledge. A little rainy, so I'll be taking the Civic Sport.

(If anyone is wondering, this is no longer a Vintage-only meet. Anyone interested in this intense drive is welcome!)

Wow, it's amazing how many wonderful roads you can find if you go looking. Mostly even less traffic than the main ones we usually take on this run, Several of them seem newly paved, so are smooth and fast!
As I go through my dashcam video, I'll post some pics - pretty enticing!
I also identified a few unpaved stretches that are not obvious on Google Satellite or Street View (when even available), but (thankfully) easily avoided, and also parts of the old route that we will definitely have to route around until they are fixed up.

This will definitely be the best drive ever - Tom would absolutely love it! I see him grinning from ear to ear at every turn - I wish we had found this route back when he was around.....
