Post Upgrade issues
^ I agree with everything you have said. So far the site is not functional. I have lost my buddies list, my FI badge is gone. The search button is terrible to maneuver around. I have noticed a large drop in user traffic also. They said this site is temporary, but I have seen no progress into getting the graphics updated from the "boilerplate" site it is now. This was obviously not a well executed upgrade because it should not have taken this long to try and fix issues with no end in site yet.
S2KI was my home page - at three different locations - now it's not even a favorite! Y'all got my money till September - that is MY deadline for significant improvement.
And just a point of reference - it's not about whats best for this user or that platform. it's about business. Each year I spend anywhere from $3,000 to $8,000 thru this website at the various vendors. I don't have to. I can do it thru other sources. I am sure as the membership migrates to other sites, the sales will go down, and sponsership will decline. Remember, this is a website that is dedicated to a car that is no longer in production. The only thing that keeps new people coming is the availabilty of used cars, and for the most part thecontinued participation of the "old" members, who, even when they sell the car, remain members because of the people they met through this website. Chase them off, and the community dies.
Change can be a good thing but sometimes..................... {imagine a picture of tree in a storm with this caption -"Sometimes the winds of change blow so hard, that even the smallest of objects become deadly projectiles".) I would post the pic, and I may take the time to go find my gallery, copy the url, or pic and then come back and edit this post, and hope the hell everything comes out right. Yes, that's sooo much better than before (heavy sarcasm).
sorry for the rant, but after 8 years, and seeing what has happened to this site, I am just sick.
I keep reading this thread hoping to see announcements from cthree or someone involved with the running of this site, telling us what has been fixed..... what is in the process of being fixed..... what is next to be fixed.....
But, not seeing that.
But, not seeing that.
Cthree is out of town presently, so that's why there has been no news since his last update. I do know that the site indexes are getting populated over time and as a result the site is getting faster because more posts are being cached or properly indexed in the database. There are still some performance tweaks to look at and we may look at adding more server muscle as well in the future. Beyond that you'll have to wait for Erik to get back and deal with some of the other items on the list.
I'm still holding out for the design fixes to make this look more like old s2ki, but when are they coming? In a week, a month, next year?
