Thanks so much. I'll keep this in mind. I'd looked into an OEM top and the top with installation was about $2300. I love Science of Speed but I though that was nuts.

Do you have any pics of this top installed? I would like to see what it looks like to help me decide what route to go.

I read this thread last week and was looking around for some patch material to reinforce the inside wear spots. Yesterday I put the top down and the latch caught the wear spot and now there is a 1/2 inch tear on the drivers side. Passenger side is still okay, but I'll definitely put a patch on both sides.
Called around today and soft estimates are around $100 for auto upholstery people to put patches in. Me, I'd like to try the repair myself.
I called San Tan Honda and they don't have soft top material. Anyone know where I can buy some material?

I have a little under 50K on mine and needed the patch. I used Adam's technique. I bought the dealer material from Bell Honda. Note that there are two sides to the deaer material - you need to match the orientation of the original top. I would definitely do the patch prematurely if you can (it is on the inside). To know the location to patch, you may need to see a similar model that has been patched (glass vs. plastic window) or look for wear on the inside. Do both sides.

Thank you Kerry! Glad someone here has listened to me! And guess what, your top will never tear now!

^ I need to look at what you guys are talking about and possibly do this preventative maintenance to mine too.

So you just cut some shape of that material and glue it on the areas of fail?

I used a credit card as my template. Then cleaned the inside of the top and glued it on. Bad thing is the OEM material is fairly thick so when the top is up, and you know what you are looking at you can see a slight bulge because the material is double thick. Does it look bad, I dont think so, does it work and keep your top from ripping, ABSOLUTELY!

Form Follows Function.
