Default Emergency help, anyone have shifter ball cap spare? Mine broke on daily driver...

Hey all, calling out for anyone that can help. I'm new to the area and don't know anyone, I was regreasing the shifter on the daily driver and broke both shifter ball caps I had trying to replace (old one and a new one). It's Sunday at 1:50 PM and I'm hoping someone out in the community can help a brother out. I will go to great lengths to get this piece (and if someone can advise how to install it without breaking it).

I'll take a taxi to you, or pay for your gas and dinner to come to me...I'm very desperate to have this fixed and find a new piece, have to get to work in the morning and I'm SOL right now.

I live in Chandler.

Many thanks in advance...

You should post on Facebook to get faster response.

I can give you my old one if you want it.
Not sure why you're breaking it. Just re-grease and should pop right on. Maybe warm it up a bit with a heat gun / hair dryer?
The age or where it comes from could make it brittle I guess.
Mine is native to AZ

Hola!

I don't have a facebook account, too bad the AZ crowd hangs out there.

Is your old one in good condition? Where do you live?

I don't know why they both broke either, the old one split in two when attempting to remove it. I had a new one just for this occassion and I heated it up in a cup of warm water to make it maleable and it also cracked while putting it on. I really don't understand how both could break while being so careful.

Thanks!

s2ki.com community for the win. Thanks Boofster for your help, I put it back together even with that crack and it works fine, (for reference I packed in almost a whole container of the urea and it's very smooth now), probably better with a new cap but the test drive was fine.

Are you talking about the little white nylon plastic cap that goes on the very bottom of the shift lever? If so you can always replace that piece with a metal one. C.G. AMIS offers one and you can get it to your door for about $65. You should never have to worry about replacing it again.

Yes, that little S.O.B. cracked on me...

Very interesting on the metal one, that's what Boofster told me last night as well. I see that I can get it from Nengun (C.G. Amis seems a bit more difficult to get it from on their webste):

Is this where you guys are getting it from?

thanks

Interesting. I'm planning on this doing this next weekend.

Glad Boof got you taken care of!
