Default Recommended Shop for Head Work

Hey everyone,

There was a thread about this that recommended Madhav but he hasn't been active here since 2016. I'm going on a road trip in early May and I'm pretty sure I have a toasted exhaust valve/valve guide/valve seal on cylinder 1. Compression is about ~130PSI. I'm considering SoS for this work but they have a bit of a backlog right now. Any other recommended shops for this work? I'm on the fence about pulling the head myself and taking it to a machine shop or just letting a mechanic do everything.

So, machine shop and mechanic recommendations please!

Thanks!

Aaron Teague at Teague Speed Racing.
Aaron pretty much only works on Hondas and in the last 2 years has bought the equipment to do most engine machine work in house.

Hey Skrugg,

You could try to perform a valve adjustment to see if it’s simply an overly tight valve. Have you also done a leak down test by chance?

What year is your car, how many miles are on the engine? Have you been experiencing any symptoms aside from the ~100psi compression loss? How long has it been running like this, is it your daily driver?
