RAMBLINGS Thread .... Whats on your brain ?

Nothing random happens. We are pretty boring people. Usually my random thoughts are posted on facebook. But here is my random thought. So I am about to move to dental school. And I am going to need a more practical car. I was thinking about getting another car or just a new car. I have the money for a beater car but I'm thinking about having a car for awhile. My dad loves my car and he made a deal with me. He said he will buy my car from me when I am ready to get a new car. So I have been pondering at the idea of a new car. But since I am not getting rid of the s2000 an it will be kept in a garage and driven by and old man (no offense Jerone). It will be nice and safe when I come home. So the next car doesn't have to be a equally as good and can be a step back or down from the performance category. I'm still open for suggestions. But my top choice is the new kia optima turbo sx. 274 whp!!! I need something with good gas milage and this thing is 34 highway mpg!!! And I need something for the snow since my girl won't be around. And price is around 26k. I'm kinda set on it. I hate the way the mazda speed 3 looks. And the powertrain warranty is 10 yr or 100k miles. I promise I'm not trying to sell the car or advertise but damn that sounds like a deal. Quarter Mile in 14.5-15 sec. Not bad. And it comes in leather. I'm just saying. But I kinda like it. It is not that much of a looker but again better than the ms3. Who needs reliability when u have that kinda warranty. I was also looking at the wrx subie. But that might be out of my price and mpg range. I'm just lookin for something practical. Any other suggestions?

I agree with Mason. I miss my Evo it was a fully practical car in EVERY way. With the seating comfortable for 4 large adults or 2 adults and three kids it has cargo space down. Pop open the trunk and it throws you off how much room you have in there. I had a wide variety of computer parts thrown around in mine. Best part about it was it was already in track trim so if I felt the need to hit up MSR she was prepped and ready. AWD and turbod from the get go. Bolt on mods yield great results. Throw in some E85 and your damn near close to 400 with basic bolt ons. It was my daily for a while and got good gas mileage as long as I kept my foot out of it. Ill always have a soft spot for her.

The last time I looked up the evo it was out of my price range. I am pretty much limited to less than 28k I don't really plan on financing. It was really down to a crappy unreliable car company with great warranty or the new civic si.

man i should add in that the ralliart and the wrx technically aren't out of the price range but when i start to build the one i would want and i dont mean slap on every accessories but they were a little bit over. and i rather have something more thn 25 mpg on the high way.

Yo Alan, realistically though is a new car really worth it to you? I mean the amount of money you lose in the first 10 seconds of driving it is dizying... in my opinion with a decent amount of knowledge of working on cars and a thorough inspection of the vehicle a used car is such a better deal.
