anybody been to the Melbourne F1 GP
Most GPs the main grandstant in front of the pits is the most expensive because you get to see the pit action, ceremony, etc. but it looks like for melbourne the grandstand at turn 1 is more expensive. i'm guessing this means it has better view/excitement? if you've been, would love some input.
thanks!
thanks!

You can't see the pits from the grandstand at turn 1, but it is a great place to sit (I've had seats there before) as it is the first chicane and there is always plenty of action there!

There's a grandstand at turns 15 & 16. This is a good place to see the cars as those are two of the slowest corners and you get to see the cars heading off up the straight.

Yes, I'd say that these are the best grand-stands as you see the cars coming into conners and passing, see down the main straight, get a bit of a view into the pits, see the pit entrance and also have a big screen.

so you guys suggest not getting the grandstand right in front of the pits? that turn 1 or 15/16 is better?
does melbourne put on a big pre-race ceremony? because that's where i would think being on the straight in front of the ppits would be good.

I agree. I've had grandstand seats at either 15 or 16 and walked around most of the track in general admission.
At these lower speed corners you can see more of the attitude on the cars and appreciate their design rather than have them flash by you on the straight.

Whats the cost of the grandstand seats??
I heard that it was something like $405AUD but its for the duration of the GP.
I'm too tight to fork out that much money for grandstand seats as i'll only go watch the Sunday event so its going to be general admission for me.

$639 - $369 for 4 day admission. i'm assuming this is AUD, not USD.
If you start at the website "home" http://cars.grandprix.com.au/
you can check out lotsa things relating to the GP. Are you coming in several days beforehand and/or staying on afterwards? How long will you be here?
If you need any other local Melbourne or Australian info just ask here - there's plenty of folks willing to help
