S2 with the VIN 6T9REP
Hi guys,
I'm new to the S2k community and was wondering if I could get your help. There is an AP1 that I am quite interested in however when I wanted to do a PPSR on it - the VIN number did not look like any of normal ones I have seen eg. "JHMAP1xxx." Instead it started with 6T9REP and after doing some research a bit I came across a few forum posts saying that it was part a rebuild scheme to re-vin certain cars that had been repairable write-offs/imported re-shell.
The owner of the one that I am interested has mentioned that the original owner imported it from Japan, could this be a valid reason and has anyone come across this issue in the past with any of their s2's? It does come with the GPS cutout dash so that leads me to believe that it could indeed be an import. I just don't want to get a bad egg s2
Thank you in advanced

Highly likely it is an import as AUDM never had the GPS as an option. If it was an import then why the re-vin? A quick google search does show that the 6T9REP VIN means it has been a repaired vehicle in Victoria.
There is something dodgy but which is it? Repaired vehicle, 'illegal' import or previously stolen vehicle? Not so illegal now as it has a new VIN and is currently on the road (i'm assuming).
this would be a great track car donor though
Also from google, these vehicles cannot be registered in NSW.
