Default Clutch upgrade

I think my clutch is on it's last legs. I'm having a bit of trouble engaging gear (particularly 1st and reverse when the engine is running) and yet my engagement position seems normal.

I'm going to try bleeding (actually flushing) the clutch hydraulics but if that doesn't work I'll bite the bullet and replace the clutch.

What are the recommended upgrades? I know both Iggy and H9k have had the Exedy and it has failed very early as it is a race clutch and deteriorates quickly in street driving. I need something that is suitable for the street, but stronger (to handle the SC power) and more resiliant (to cope with my track antics).

I open to brand name products or custom clutch upgrades. I confess though that after reading what is involved in a clutch replacement this is one job I'll leave to the experts.

I am v. happy with the new clutch that I got put in by Chrisbarry's mate in Rosberry. The guy's name is Serge and he's at Central Automatic Transmissions in the yellowpages.com.au

The great thing about this guy is that you tell him what cltuch you want and they;ll make it for ya.

That sounds like my kinda thing. I'm not a sucker for brand names.

How much did it cost? Parts and install?

Does he do clutches for Jeeps?

Set me back just over a grand inc gst for parts and install.

Hey, leave my jeep alone!!! Or I might just boost it to 16lbs and give your SC S2000 a run for it's money!!!

Thanks Toda, nice info. And if flushing the clutch lines fixes the problem I will be very happy.

If not, I'll be in contact.

N.P...
Be sure to have a friend help you when you flush / bleed the clutch....
It's a right bastard to do on your own...

you are right about the overpull thing toda
I lowered my clutch engagement point and found that the problem has ...to my surprise.....aldready gone

The Exedy clutch is a 6 puck ceramic. The only problem is that it overheats too quickly and slightly slippier when it's hot. I would love to get someone to rebuild the exedy clutch with a different material when's it's done

AusS2000, a couple of my mates in the US with Vortech has used OEM clutch, mugen pp and toda flywheel with good sucess (I will double ccheck this for you )
