Integra Type R... of you mean Type S?
What a rip off... here are pics and the brocuhre. Pay careful attention to the specs... it is a Type S people... a rebadged Type S!!!!!!!! Not just the engine... but the wheels... same as the ordinary Integra, no brembos, red line at 7900rpm, this is a load of shit!!! I am furious at Honda for doing this...
Ok fine, if it was badged as a Type S... I wouldn't be bitching... BUT... this is just plain and simple rip off.
A very pissed off Iggy

How much does this new Aus Integra Type-R weight? I know it's more than the outgoing model From the look/sound of it, it seems that you (Iggy) have the superior Integra Type-R .... in particular if your focus is on handling/perfromance.
ps. Though, the new new Type-R has a 6 speed transmittion ... anyone knows what the ratios are? Though, I doubt that the 1st three gears will be any closer than the current one as the 3rd gear maxes out at somewhere over 120kph.

Iggy, I was told by the Honda DSM that there is substantially more torque with the new model which together with the 6 sped gearbox may go a fair way towards offsetting the additional weight. Do you have a torque comparison?

2kturkey, so it probably has a bit more torque... but what about the tuned suspension? The perfect balance of the car... I don;'t think you will get that in this one.
Current: Max Torque
Power 147 kW
192Nm
Weight to Power Ratio 7.96 : 1 kg/kW
"old":
Power 141 KW
Torque 178 Nm
Weight to Power Ratio 7.71 : 1 kg/kW

I HAVE NOW SEEN THE CAR
Takashi - Unfortunately (with great dismay) this is NOT an export TYpe R.
It is a rebadged type S, with the Type R kit, recaro seats and LSD. (at least they put that in - I THINK!!)
Now, I have only done a visual inspection and have not driven it, however these are my observations:
1) 8000 red line
2) Black rocker cover (sorry no type R has this)
3) No rear chasis brace (The real type r has one just before where the seats fold - if you lift up to see the spare)
4) RSX Brakes
5) RSX Wheels
Now, what totall shat me was the dealer insisted this was not an US type S, because, wait for it..... it is made in japan.
I told him that the RSX is made in japan and that only certain models are made in us (ie. civic coupe, us accord)
Anyway - I have mailed honda, and will endeavour to write a letter of complaint.
I cannot believe they have compromised on the "Type R" name - Yes it is a nice car, but I would have prefered a Type S to be released, with a true Type R to come out a bit later if need be.
I hope everyone will join me in sending mail to various car mags and papers - stating the facts and requesting a boycott of this product.

They've almost certainly done this for cost reasons. Our dollar is worth squat these days.
What I wonder is how much of the Type R spec suspension and body stiffening we get. Apparently not the rear brace, but what about spring and shock rates, and the extra welds (?) that the old Type R used to get.
Weight seems OK? It should go quite nicely, but maybe not as hard edged as the real Type R. Ever more reason to buy an S2000 Iggy.
