The car has already spent time with an S2000 'specialist' and a dealership with two mechanics who have '30 years experience' not to mention the diagnostic tests I've already done. That's why I am looking for a workshop that will do Billman's checks for me.

Perhaps I should drive to Sydney and get you to look at it

Hell, if someone gave me more detailed instructions then 'disassemble the cam towers and check your VTEC pins.' I would probably have a crack myself...

And BTW, I've done it any number of times. I found my instructions in the Workshop manual.

And the tricky part ain't disassembly.

Ahh, got it.

And as Billman says two posts later:

That is not a VTEC pin. That is an alignment dowel.

If I recall correctly, Billman worked out from the measurements that I gave him that the dowel was not OEM S2000.

Hi guys, car is now sitting in my garage as it is no longer needed for duty. My friend managed to break a bolt on the VTEC solenoid (over torqued?) while tightening it today anyway. That being said, it will no longer be used until everything is fixed. Does anyone in the VIC area have any really good recommendations on a garage I can take the car to? I've been recommended Combined Servicing in Clayton, as New World Honda and CRS Automotive were of no help in fixing or even finding the problem. I'm looking for honesty and commitment to fix the problem, willing to pay a little more if they do the job well and get the job done...
