Default Major Service

My 00 GPW is almost hitting 120k km's I read somewhere that major service for honda's is 40, 80 and 120kms. Is that correct? If so I just wanted to ask any one who has reach this mark how much it cost them for major service and what was done (assuming they did it from Honda)

Cheers Guys,

Yup 120k is a major. I got quoted from 1.2 to 1.8k at the Honda dealers but that was 1.5 yrs ago.

Mine is supposedly due for an 80k major service, based on the interval. but I'm planning to do the easy services myself like oil and fluid change. Other stuff more fiddly, I will let them do (like valve clearance, fuel filter, etc). After all my S is rarely driven and barely passed 50K. Last month I got a quote from the local dealership for a stamped major service for 1.3k including fuel filter change.

40's are big.
80's are biger.
My latest was a 40, at 200,000 kms, last week.
They estimated approx $1600 but in the end it was around $950 because several items, such as spark plugs and coolant, were not necessary seeing that I had had most of the engine replaced or overhauled last year at 190,000 kms.

does anyone have any recommendations on where to take theirs?
my S has got a log book serviced by Honda all its time, and wondering whether if i should continue to take it to honda. are there any differences in servicing with honda than other places? would it affect its resale value if i go elsewhere if decide to sell my car in the future

anyone recommend another service group? mine is due for an 80k service. and ive been quoted $1200 from honda.

IMO, the amount you save from NOT going to Honda out-values the sight increase in resale value you MAY get... no matter how much we love our car, you have to remember that it's a s2000, not a Lamborghini.

good point ncmx, got a few quotes from other non honda places for about 600-800 dollars, while hondas service centers are all above $1200. In the end, i would end up saving heaps.

i think ive been watching too many "today tonight" and "a current affair" trash about mechanics doing shoddy work.
.

the honda service center quotes i got were from Perth (honda north, honda burswood, and prestige honda (i think boragoon)
