Oz S2000 track 'hall of fame'
#111
ah, the things you stumble onto over the interweb thingummy...
that top speed down the straight at ec is an interesting area. i don't think the civic had any speedo error. i was hitting around the 180-185 mark in my dc2 vti-r. i had to change out of 4th, which maxes out at around 180 in my car. unless my speedo is out aswell
when totally stock and on street tyres, i was timed at 2:03 by a passenger.
after the suspension work, exhaust and rs-v04 tyres i was a little off the stock dc2r on the toyo trampio's, i'm guessing i was in the 1:57 bracket... unfortunately i never got timed. i noticed he was putting a couple car lengths on me each lap. so it's just an educated guess.
btw, i too was there to witness the em1 doing 2:02's
he has a very similar setup to my car... in fact, apart from the bracing (i don't have any) and my 24mm front swaybar the suspension setup is nigh on identical. same springs, shocks and rear swaybar.
nice to meet you all, btw

Adding a 1:40.6 at Winotn in here. Not in an S2000 so it's not noted in the 'hall of fame'. Here are the details, and also a nice discussion about how to go quicker:

DavidM, you put down InfinityS2000's Wakefield time as "stock" but I think he runs adjustable coilovers and as he mentioned he's using Spoon calipers and larger than standard wheels and tyres. You might like to get the rundown from him.

Yeah I thought about it, but figured that none of that will make any real difference to the perfromance of the S2000. I figured that there's no real performance gains in an S2000 unless you:
a) have R-spec tyres
b) have S/C or turbo
c) strip the car (ie. loose weight)
I've put S2000 into the HOF as 'stock' even though they might have had different wheels, different (road) tyres, exhaust, and even final drive. Do you think that it makes a worthwile difference, and f so is it worthwile noting things like this with S2000s?

I think after market suspension warrants a mention. I'd expect that alone to give a substantial lap time improvement.
On an S2000? I just have not seen an S2000 with mods that was quicker than without it (bar the 3 things that I mentioned before). That is unless the 'coilovers' are set to a full on race-setup like the GTP car ... but I have not seen anyone do anything close to that.
Still, it does not hurt to mention it, so 'coilover suspension' is added it.
