Default Potential buyer with some q's

Hello S2K lovers,

This is my first post! Looking forward to the many to come.

I'm a Green P plater living in Sydney looking to buy either a bugeye wrx, ADM s15 or S2K. I haven't driven ANY of these yet, but I'm booked out for this thursday afternoon, pretty damn excited! I have a feeling the s2k will win me over, I'm not sure why..

So two questions:

1) How come you S2K owners bought the s2k over anything else you were considering? What won you over?

2) I'd just like to know what kind of $$ depreciation any one here would expect on an s2000. If I bought one now for 20k, what would it sell back for in a years time?

Thanks

If you keep it in pristine condition i dont think you would experience any depreciation tbh.

Inbox me if you have any questions

1. Two seats, super handling, and the top goes down.
2. Depreciation seems to have run it's course. In North America original pristine 2006/2007 cars with 40,000 miles are running US$20,000 (AUS$26,000) plus or minus depending on mileage and condition. Condition is paramount for value. But I bought mine to drive!

I've had my s2000 for 4 years, I've put on 40,000km and I reckon I could sell it for about the same price as I purchased it. I chose the car because they're a great car to drive, the high redline makes it exciting, they are reliable and they're relatively easy to work on mecahnically - there's room in the engine bay to swing tools around.
If you choose one in good condition they have traditionally held their values very well. Avoid overly modified examples for best resale. Bugeye wrx's are too ugly and S15 Silvia's are good cars imho.

1 - I wanted this car when it came out in 99 and I was 14. It was in my top list of cars as a little ricer kid. Supra, R34 GTR, S2000, Rx7, sti 22b, evo 5 makkinin edition was my list. I grew up and got a job and made some good life decisions and ended up realising I could actually afford to buy any of these cars (except maybe the R34 GTR at the time). Even 6 years after it was released I found I still really liked the looks of the car and it had never aged. It's performance and engineering was still something to write home about and it was proving to be a typical Honda with a great life expectancy. It also didn't carry the ricer stigma that the other cars did (thankfully it was only 1 Johnny Tran that ruined it).

I was going to buy my car without having actually test drove it. I loved it that much sitting in the passenger seat and reading everyone ranting about owning it on this forum for years. Bought it around 8 years ago and only intended to have it for 2 years.

The S was (and still is) relatively rare to see on the streets and for a car that is 15 years old, I believe it would still turn heads in a showroom if it was just released today.

2 - No idea. I don't keep an eye on it because I can't imagine selling it.

1. I dont know about bugeye but i had S15 and now i have S. Both S's have goods and bads but one thing that stands out the most is that you can throw S2k to any corners with tops open! haha

2. I have gone too far with my S and i cant sell it now. LOL
