I really don't understand why people fuss over oils. Change them regularly enough, it'll be fine...and as long as you're within specs. 0w...is it really necessary? Unless you can override the fuel cutout and vtec from cold...what's the point? just emptying your pockets on a $25,000 car.

Don't get me wrong, I love this car and i do look after it with services every 5000kms but i wouldn't tend to see the need to use $100+ oils. Race the car? Maybe I'd use something more resilient to wear and tear from prolonged high revs.

Saki - thanks for the badge link.

What's really amazing is that I use extended Oil Change Intervals (OCIs). My last OCI was 39,500 miles. I've gone over 100,000 miles on only three oil changes. I can do this because I use a good synthetic oil (Amsoil 0W-30)and I have a bypass filter and prelube pump. My engine should last a very long time with this setup.

And as Ducatikid mentions, lots of highway miles definitely helps. Anyone can easily get 200,000 miles on this engine just with regular oil changes and a fair amount of highway miles without excessive abuse.

I think you will find most use 0w - x and 5w - x because you cant get 10w - in that many brands. I dont think anyone here in Aus expects to have to cold start in -14
