Haha yeah a member on here referred me to a page about them

f@#k it! I'm going to do it myself, I've done everything else myself so there's no reason why I can't do this... I was just a little apprehensive about not having a lift for the car

Once again, S2Ki proves it's worth

Good stuff!

Get yourself a jack and some jack stands (important if you have people who love you and rely on you) and do it yourself.

There's probably a few write ups in the Under The Hood section but any specific questions, ask here. Glad to help.

Thanks man, you're a legend!

I've read through the Helms S2000 Manual a few times on the clutch install so I kinda know what to expect, although it's always a little different in reality (especially pulling hoses off this 14 year old car is a nightmare )

I'll see if I can finish the job in the coming weeks!

Cheers

Clutch install is a big job and pretty difficult without a lift. I've done it twice.

Make sure you have replacement driveshaft/diff bolts.

I'm guessing you're referring to #13 in this picture?

What's the issue with these parts? Is it just a good idea to replace them now rather than later on down the track?

Cheers

Sorry, mix up in UK/US nomenclature. I am referring to the shaft from the gearbox to the diff.

You have to remove it to change the clutch and the six bolts at the diff end are soft and notorious for striping inside the hex heads. You have to use a socket hex tool and a strong bar and shock it loose (slow torque will just strip it). And even if you get them out without a Dremel they probably won't be reusable. I carry spares for my next clutch job.

You are most likely going to strip these bolts when you take apart the prop shaft. I just recently did mine yesterday and I was lucky to only strip one but hell what a headache it was! If you do decide to do it grab your self a QUALITY 6mm Hex bit and a breaker bar

Them's the ones. Having trouble finding the words last night.

When you insert the 6mm hex bit give it a bit of a tap to ensure it is seated all the way.

Then affix breaker bar. Holding the pivot point, give the end a quick thrust.

This way you are more likely to get all the bolts out but I wouldn't try to reuse them.
