Sounds good

I know that when I bought mine for $300 all round the guy showed me on the screen that they were only making around $20 off the tyres (which didnt make up for the shithouse expensive alignment that took the car further from the settings I wanted )

Not to say that he wasn't pulling my leg somehow.

I still think the exchange rate explains it all. Last year the dollar was around low 60s Yen and now it's 78. Has to have an effect.

I just contacted the BTC in Port Melbourne. They have a few of the sO2 rears (92W) left @ $275Inc balanced/fitted. Not too shabby at all.

Agree with Naishou - currency will have had an impact.

Cheers.

After reading these posts I dropped by my nearest Bob Jane T-mart to enquire about a rear set of S02 W rated and they have quoted me $260 each. Naturally I ordered a set and they are being shipped down from Sydney from Bridgestone. I'm still waiting for them, it gives me a chance to burn off the ones I currently have!

Just don't get BJ to do fitting and alignment. I'm pretty sure their wheel aligners go to a different 'school' than Honda's. For one thing they won't align them to factory specs AND give a warranty on wear (at least not where I went). They seem to have their own alignment specs at BJ's so I discovered.

Don't forget the Aussie dollar is particularly strong against the US dollar at the moment...don't know if that has anything to do with it (maybe the manufaturing materials are cheaper?).

Anybody tried different tyres here? I'm going to have to shell out for some new rear tyres very soon.

Actually I was wrong - I have Dunlop 2000E on the rear for now.

We'll see how those go I guess.
