2017 IndyCar Grand Prix at the Glen - 9/3 at Watkins Glen International
This is close to home and I know some locals will likely attend. It's a special track and should make for a great race

When Formula One visited Watkins Glen in 1961 for the first Watkins Glen U.S. Grand Prix, it was the beginning of what would become a tradition at the circuit through 1980. Innes Ireland won the inaugural running, with drivers such as Jim Clark, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi and James Hunt among the winners of the grand prix. In 2004, the Verizon IndyCar Series announced that it would compete on the historic 3.4-mile, 11-turn long course at Watkins Glen International on Sept. 25, 2005. The circuit included "the boot," which is part of the traditional grand prix circuit. Scott Dixon won the first Verizon IndyCar Series event at the track – the first of three straight wins at the track for the Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver – and donated his laurel wreath from Victory Lane to nearby Seneca Lodge to hang among the wreaths of the previous race winners at Watkins Glen, a tradition that dates to the United States Grand Prix Formula One event. Justin Wilson claimed the first-ever win for Dale Coyne Racing at the track, when he won the race in 2009.

I'm 3.5 hours away to the east from Watkins Glen, located on the shores of the Hudson River.
I've been there for at least 2 days on track over the last 6 years and have about 15 days on track total. Lime Rock is closer to me and is my home track by virtue of it being closer and being another old school track.

Missed qualifying yesterday as I was at Lime Rock for their Historic Festival. What a surprise then to tune in and watch Rossi on pole. And as always the Glen delivered mixed conditions that I thought made for an exciting race. Very strong finish for the Hondas today.

Nice win for Rossi. Too bad Newgarden came out of the pits too hot on cold tires and hit the wall, seeing his points lead cut from 31 to 3. My man, Castroneves, was fourth.

WE'll find out in 10 days at Sonoma. I can't go this year because it conflicts with USC Texas in the Coliseum. vtecmom in The Corner won a ride in the two seater with Mario Andretti.
