More random thoughts...... Talk about action! Kept me awake. For a track that wasn't suppose to have any places to pass Toyota did quite well. I really am tired of the announcers speculating on how much gas everyone is carrying - especially when they are wrong more often than not. FA certainly knows how to heat up the tires before each restart. Dang, that Renault is a rocket. Honda clearly has more work to do. Hobbs funny comment aside, JB is generally there at the end and you can't win if you aren't. And what's RB's problem? You got'a admit Honda sure ended in big bang.

Very disappointing. This is only my third race that I watched and I'm hooked. I originally started to watch because of MS and how he was supposed to come back and kick everyone's ass. I'm disappointed about him crashing and not finishing. Although he was VERY sluggish and maybe it was the tires as the commentator said. However, Honda was even more disappointing. How Alonso shot past him. Jeez

from Grand Prix.com:

The FIA Stewards in Melbourne have deprived Scott Speed of his eighth place finish in the Australian Grand Prix. The American Scuderia Toro Rosso driver was reprimanded and given a 25 second penalty for ignoring yellow flags. Speed was obviously not very impressed by the whole process as the stewards added a second penalty of $5000 for using abusive language to another competitor during the stewards' hearing, ruling that such behaviour was "wholly unacceptable".

Speed, who has earned the nickname "Beavis", because of apparent similarities with a character from the American cartoon series Beavis and Butt-Head, may need to moderate his behaviour with FIA officials in future.

The time penalty means that "Beavis" loses his first World Championship point as David Coulthard now moves into eighth place.

I loved this at the beginning of the race from the SPEED commentators -

"This just in - Yuji Ide has just posted fastest lap"

It was the most exciting race I've seen in years. I would have liked to see less crashes but all the over taking brought back the good old days of F1.

The classic moment in the race was when the ITV commentator said:
"Ruben Barrichello doesn't have the pace to pass Takuma Sato."

All night I couldn't get that insult out of my head.

Hobbs has a great sense of humor. I met him in a bar at Elkhart Lake several years ago and had a fun time.

this race just prove's how bad of a driver JB is. He got pimped by the same move 3 times in a row. i could go on and on but i wont. honda just needs to buy out jb contract and get a new driver in the car. then ull see them win some races.

Tough luck for Jenson not finishing with some points. I keep wondering if he could have rolled into the points by staying off the grass and just tried to coast past the finish line. Then again, when your ass is on fire, you might not be thinking about points, but just getting out without being burnt.

That being said, the beginning of the race was so disappointing. Jenson should have fought harder not to get passed by Alonso and Raikonnen. What can I say, they are more aggressive drivers. You have to want it. I just don't know if he wants it bad enough.

i don't think he was worried about the fire - it was more of a stategy thing

4 points + 10 place penalty for next race, or DNF and fresh start for next race....take your pick.

Not sure how you can say that...if it was not for the safety cars FA would have been long, long gone....no one was going to catch him.

Bad race for Ferrari ....
