Advertising is what finances the sport unfortunately.

Necessary? No. Probable? ....... meh.

I'm not sure how that would work for any intended advertising purpose unless they have a camera focused on the ticker all the time. I hope they first get the safety aspect ironed out as well as buy in from all teams and drivers before thoughts of monetization. I think this would also be a good safety change for all kinds of single seaters.

One thing that has me worried though is about Chase Carey seeking a grand prix in Copenhagen. I think there are already a number of street circuits and anymore would take away from the novelty of waiting a full season to see the handful of street races. As it is we have the Potemkin's village that is Baku and I personally am in favor of keeping races at proper race circuits. If F1 becomes a city/downtown based spectacle, then while it may gain eyeballs in the short run, in the long run it will lose its interest as people would get worn out by having a race in the middle of their city. Perhaps, each year the carvan should visit one historic circuit and have a grand prix there, just so that the history of the sport is preserved. Watkins Glen, Magny-Cours, Zandvoort and Kailami as well as Imola would be welcome adds.
