Default Those watching F1 on Speed through DirecTV

For those that watch F1 on Speed channel and are on DirecTV, did you notice that the TV feed is over 6 minutes behind the live timing on Formula1.com? It's really annoying because I like to watch the race with live timing side by side. I hope the race isn't delayed this badly. I don't mind a little delay but 6+ minutes is just too much. Just needed to vent a little...

This is how I usually watch the races. (pics are old)

I recall reading somewhere that SPEED "time-slips" their broadcast. That means they can show you everything and still get their sponsor time in. You don't actually end up missing much though they may cut certain segments to fit with the commercial time. It just doesn't end up actually being "live." It's "pseudo-live"

All this time I thought the delay was there in case David Hobbs said something that had to be bleeped out

It's not really a Speed issue, it's a DirectTV issue. I like to use live timing as well and Speed on Comcast (cable) is pretty closely synced but the video is horrible.

DTV is far superior in terms of video feed and I'd rather watch the race from the that - sounds like live timing's out then.

Yes the race will be a little out of synch - I think about 1 minute if memory serves correctly.

Doesn't bother me. Cameras not following the real action bothers me.

I timed the delay and the qualifying was over 6 minutes delayed. All the races/qualifying last year was pretty much live on DirecTV, there was at most only a 5 second delay. Wonder if it's going to be like this this whole season or it is only for Malaysia.

Does Varsha and Hobbs announce the race at the event or do they announce here in the U.S. from the "semi-live" feed. Just curious, because I think it was last weekend Varsha was on the Sunday nite live broadcast of Windtunnel with Dave Despain.
