Todt leaving Ferrari's CEO post

"Jean Todt has resigned as the CEO of Ferrari, the company announced today, subsequent to the completion of its shareholders' meeting. The legendary Frenchman had taken on the position at the parent company of the F1 team in October 2006, and leaves the position after only 17 months at the helm. "

Todt resigns from Ferrari

Umm just to fuel the rumour the mill...as Brawn is at Honda already, maybe they can get Todt and then eventually.....MS!!...and the dream team starts again!!

I saw that article a couple days ago :)

Why is there so much hate for The Chin on these boards? Granted, he would have only one half the WDCs he has today if Senna did not die, but he was still a great driver to watch and follow.

PS....Malaysia this weekend!!!

I'm waiting for Doug to post some  for MS  I'm not one of his fans :)

I think I'm going to wuss out and watch this weekend's racing on the following day. It almost killed me being up that late 3 nights in a row :D

Any reason given for Todt stepping down?

Could be some political infighting in the Fiat/Ferrari organization. Italian business is very volatile like that.

this sounds like a reason to me..

Todt agreed to hold the reins while di Montezomolo's Confindustria workload prevented him from completely focusing on Fiat's and Ferrari's management. However, with Emma Marcegaglia, the managing director of the Marcegaglia SpA steel company, now taking over at Confindustria, di Montezomolo is free to shift his attention back to Fiat -- and Ferrari.

As a result, Todt is stepping down, although he will stay as a director on Ferrari's board, with former general manager, Amodeo Felisa, taking over as the company's CEO.

"My commitment to the President had been to manage the company until the end of his mandate as President of Confindustria and to indicate the new director of the Sports Management," Todt explained. "Having accomplished these tasks, a new phase of my life has now begun in which I will have more time to dedicate to myself and my other interests."

Why did he step down? Pretty obvious.

Todt and Montezomolo never ever got along even during the glory days when they were annhilating the rest of the field.

Montezomolo was always at a disadvantge though.

No one in the team could even point at MS due to the respect he commanded and Todt and MS are almost like father and son i.e. very close.

Also, why do you think MS was forced to retire? He still had the speed and the desire to race so why? Cause insecure Mr Montezomolo wanted his golden boy Kimi in the outfit asap which Todt and MS never approved.

The only reason Todt stuck around this long after departure of MS was that he had given so much to the team and they couldnt just discard him. The Tifosi is very strong and wouldnt have liked that.

Everyone knows F1 is infested with dirty politics but Ferrari takes it to a different level.

If that's the case, then MS would be the insecure one ;) not LdM
