TOP GEAR on AYRTON SENNA
Ayrton Senna. Always heard of him but never saw him race. I was 19 when he passed away. Every piece of footage I've watched related to him has a profound influence on me. His talent was incredible and his personality was quite an enigma. This Top Gear spot will be one of my best ever moments of the show.

Thank you asshish2!
It was during Ayrton Senna's "era" that I started staying up late or waking in the middle of the night to watch F1. What drew my interest was Senna's skill, his success and on-track battles in addition to his personality and philosophy - finding out more about him just enhanced my interest in him.
For those that care, this is Top Gear Season 15 Episode 5 - I have it as a keep sake. The episode also Captain Slow in the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, plus Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz setting fast laps in the new "reasonably priced car"
From the little that I know, Ayrton Senna was a great driver, sportsman and human being.

Just want to clearify... He was not a great sportsman. He had one goal, and one goal only: to win. You saw in that clip how all he had to do to win the championship one year was to not let the other guy get first. So what does he do? Take him, and the other driver out, intentionally, in the first turn.
But, he was great both on and off the track.

This was a time of ruthless drivers, doing anything they could to win. The rules were different back then. The first time senna took out prost at the start he was only given a warning, because techincally he had to make sure that prost didnt finish. I don't want to get into an argument about this because I never got to see Senna race, I wish I could have, so I don't know exactly who he truly is. I can only watch clips of his driving on youtube and look up what I can on the internet.
It's great that you posted this up. I am surprised no one posted it up and I was lazy because I remember seeing in on car talk. I am also glad that I dled this ep of Top Gear in 720p lol

That's like the epitome of a sportsman;
Agree with the post above yours... no use getting in to an argument about it. Fact of the matter is he was (and still is) one of the best drivers (the best?) in F1

Another thing I liked was seeing LH's reactions while driving the mp4-4. What a lucky guy haha

he is indeed lucky to drive his hero's car
