With each project, there are going to be successes and things that did not work out quite as planned. My last s2000 was an 05 Rio Yellow with CTSC which was a fun project seen on the s2ki pages but I learned some do/don’ts and wanted to build one more project. Plan to take the best of everything put it together to create the ultimate s2000.
My quest originally was for a GPW CR since it would be fitting to start with the epitome of the s2000 to build my final car. However as my search continued I realized there were even fewer clean examples of a CR than my GPW NSX! Also I realized that unlike most CR owners I would never track the car and the first things I would ditch would be the OEM suspension, wheels/tires, exhaust. The more I thought about it, the more I realized I could not live without a soft-top either! Thus in my quest for the right car, a 09 GPW s2000 popped up. Being the last year this car was made I figured this would be a nice rare car as the base platform.
The first modifications on this car would be to bring the exterior up to par as we all know looking good is an important part of any project. My trademark color now is the egg/yolk theme (white with yellow accents) after I bought my last GT3. I spec’d out that car in white with the yellow PCCB brakes, yellow deviated stitching and carbon fiber. Ever since then I was in love with that color combo and it has filtered down into each of my current projects except for my NSX.
Baseline: This car already came with the OEM front lower lip and rear spoiler. The car is a 2009 so it had the special 2-tone interior with all black door panels, red carpet and unique 09 schemed red/black seats which were different from 2007 models. The game plan does not call for any gaudy carbon fiber or ugly body kits. I’m sticking to the OEM look with a CR front lip, side strakes, OEM rear spoiler, and OEM front and rear bumpers.
Watch this thread as it will be constantly be updated with work performed.
I’ve been accumulating parts for the past 6 months so here’s a shot of the parts sitting around. Before these can be installed the car will be stripped for Dynamat and stereo cables.
This is how the car looked when I bought it in March, 2010
Almost exactly a year since we picked her up, 3/25/11 a few shots of the car before it goes under surgery for a complete REVAMP for 2011 - no more CR interior as we go for a new look
Stripped and ready for new stuff:
updated 5/27/10
This plexi door mod was just an experiment but turned out pretty nice. We had to move the radio back about 1/2" for the Alpine knob to clear the radio door.
Stock Engine BEFORE Picture:
6/11/10 Engine AFTER picture:
Custom smoked the rear tails (ver.D) and custom badge
Custom V1 stealth mounted with remote display hidden:

too bad you couldn't find a CR
exciting to see what you're going to do though!
I saw on another thread that you can transfer over all info to a CR cluster (miles and everything else). But I think you know that already haha

excited to see the build
one point of clarification, the 08 / 09 gpw s2000s are the same, the seats, door panels are not specific to 2009s
i have a 2008 s2000 and i switched the carpet to black, switched the seats to black and went with asm hand brake (black with red stitching) asm shift boot (same black / red stitching ) so while ricks with white with black / yellow, i guess mine is white with black / red. I would love to buy the 08/ 09 black seats with the red stitching as well.
good luck with the build! also i am socalx over on prime (type r replica ns) that was on the cover of may honda tuning last year)
