Hi, my names Matt Jensen, a lot of you might know me from instagram (@mattsmysteriousmiata) or from facebook! I have been meaning to make a build thread for like a year but never got to it. So here it is. (IGNORE DAPPER BANNER I WAS LIKE 17 AND DIDNT KNOW WHO I WAS YET LOL) 3 years ago, i bought my 2000 s2000. Its originally a NFR with black interior (pretty common) I had boughten the car stock with some cheap aftermarket wheels and a momo steering wheel installed. AKA some garbage. But, the main reason i wanted this exact s2000, was for an extra $350 the owner would throw in an AUTHENTIC mugen hardtop. Which I'm sure all of you know is stupid cheap; they're usually 4000-4500 depending on where you're getting it. So i drove the S around like that for about a year since i was a senior in highschool barely affording his car payment working at Culvers. (I ended up adding some trashy XXR's and a MUGEN SS wing. And that's when the madness happened. I had my original fist car sitting in my yard with a blown engine. (RX8 LOL) I traded that car for an mk3 supra, which i then traded for a slammed VIP ls400, which i then traded for a rust free, color matching, sr20 s13 coupe. I then sold the 240 for $4500. Which was a steal, i had sold the car within an hour of posting. Once i had that cash in my hand, i then got to shopping.. I had ordered a brand new set of Enkei rs05rr, some BC coilovers, AMUSE R1 front, a JDP wing, APR mirrors, and a bunch of other stuff. I had also decided i wanted to do the Circuit Garage widebody, which at the time was very very rare to come by. I had known of maybe 3-4 cars nationwide with the kit. I alssssooo, decided to paint the car with my father, and grandpa in his one car garage. We had ended up going all out and stripping the car down to bare metal. We also made a custom first of its kind OEM+ hood in the process. The paint stage ended up taking 5+ months in the garage 7 days a week all night due to me being a perfectionist. The flares fit like garbage at first and were wavy as hell, but we got that all settled. -I was 19-20 when this was happening, doing most of the work myself. The paint ended up turning out amazing, after the paint job, i gave it a full 100% wetsand to remove orange peel. I believe that one of the most important parts of having a car and building it, is doing it yourself. I have learned so much from working on this car, and plan to not stop till its 100% flawless. This doesnt mean im addiing a chasis mount wing and some gay 3 piece wheels. I want every nut and bolt to be perfect. Next week i will be starting on a full tuck and shave plus ITB. The car is not a track car, it is used to scoot and toot around town and go on random road trips to enjoy. I have put on average 33k miles all three years i have owned it. (Its not my daily driver) Here's the current modification list Exterior Custom mixed Blue pearl paint VOLK TE37V MKii Gunmetal/chrome Authentic Circuit garage fender flares JDP duck bill DEPO tail lights (idc what you say, i love the look they give the car) ASM front bumper ASM CF front lip Custom side diffusers J's Racing CF rear diffuser GO-Tuning CF rear bumper cap (goes int between exhaust) Black ap1 headlight diffusers (custom) Authentic Mugen hardtop ONE OF ONE custom hood APR Mirrors Antenna Delete/debadged PERFORMANCE/SUSPENSION Air Lift V3P Air Lift suspension 32 way dampening (rides amazing for all uses) Custom made intake Custom exhaust AEM V2 Brembo Big brake kit APM J-Hook rotors Powder Coated Valve cover Unknown brand Catch can Mugen oil cap (not really performance but whatever) INTERIOR Bride low max Black Bride drivers seat rail buddy club passenger seat rail RENOWN 100 alcantara steering wheel Alcanatara a-pillars Alcanta AP1 center console CR radio door Sony head unit/JL audio speakers Mugen shift knob AP2 shift boot I'm sure i'm forgetting other stuff Let me know what you guys think!! Hi, I'm local to you.
It is not my style at all, but props for using authentic parts & actually working towards a cohesive aesthetic. |
