Default Project The Bride

So I thought I’d document my second S2K build. Got so much help from this forum when I built my 1st car in 2013, a milld track upgrade to a 2007 Rio Yellow with only 37,000Km (which I still own), that I thought I might help others with this new one.

I want to make clear to everyone that I’m « Milli Vanilli-ing » this build, meaning I’m pretending to build it while I have somebody more talented actually doing the work! In this case that’s Jay and his crew at Powersports Garage at Calabogie Motorsports Park near Ottawa, Canada. I’m very involved in the design process and parts choice since I spent a « few » years researching on this site, and tracking different sports cars.

This new project is based on a rebuilt-titled 2005, also Rio Yellow, with 131,000km that I got on the cheap (relatively speaking for a S2K). The objective is to make this a serious track weapon that I can still drive to and from the track, and occasionally on the week-ends.

Here are a few pics of what it started of like:

Build objective is: build a S2K capable of running with the big boys! : I want to match or better my numbers around Calabogie Motorsports Park (CMP) from my stock ‘16 GT4 (sold) and also stock ‘18 GT3 (for sale!), in a car that is still streetable. CMP is a « handling » rather than a high speed circuit so the S2K platform has a shot.

Planned Mods:
- new coilovers
- sway bars
- BBK
- widebody
- aero
- wheel/tires
- half cage
- hard top
- S/C
- and more... there’s always more!

Nice, good luck with your build. What bumper is that?

Shine top is in. Chose it over Spoon mainly for the better visibility provided by the side windows and good feedback on this forum.

APR wide-body also in. I know it’s not a popular choice but I was looking for a clean “factory looking” kit. I wasn’t in for the more functional but spaceship looking J’s Racing kit or had the budget for the Voltex. Also the +45mm fronts and +50mm rear were more in line with my objectives of widening the track and putting as much rubber on the road as possible.

APR widebody fitted and ready for primer. Takes a lot of work for a proper fit but bodyshop says one of the better ones they worked on.

Also Seibon CF hood installed.

Rear panel overlays and bumper
