Had the chance to test out my new tune, HKS hipermax 4 SP, and 255 Federal RS-RR square setup with the new wheels. My previous laptime was a 1'48.8 at Laguna Seca with stock suspension, Falken Azenis RT615K (non+) in staggered 225/255 tire sizes with a HFC and exhaust with no tune. Out in the first session, I was able to shave 2 seconds immediately with a 1'46.8! I was very impressed with these budget track tires considering they cost $450 shipped to my door. Suspension felt great at 10 clicks front and rear with a slight oversteer tendency which I liked. The thing that bothered me the most was my inconsistent brake feel and stopping with the Project Mu CR pads and stock calipers. Developed a big brake pedal vibration at the start of session 3 and discovered a massive crack in the front right rotor (brand new centric Ctek blank rotor) which ended my day. WIll be at Thunderhill on December 10 with Ongrid for another track day.

You put Rotas on a previously stock 07?

Why do you do these things,

I see plenty of guys running rotas at the track and even race cars and they seem to be doing fine. I just wanted a wheel to fit 255s on that wasn't an rpf1 and similarly priced. Also, I daily on the stock wheels so these are more for the track to beat.

Went to Thunderhill this weekend with OnGrid. Was able to shave about 6 seconds off my previous lap time after all the parts which felt pretty insane. Went from a mid 2'12 (hot summer day, stock with Falken 615k and Pmu CR pads) down to a 2'05.8. The current setup with 255 Federal RS-RR, HKS Hipermax 4 SP, and Flashpro tune with HFC and Exhaust made the car feel neutral with a bit of oversteer bias which I prefer. Dampers were set to 15F/15R which are the out of the box settings.

Day ended with my driver side brake line failing into turn 10 but was able to scrub off speed to make the turn. Already had a set of SS lines on order but didn't get them in time for this track day.

Those Rotas look good and I'd be shocked if they're any worse than the popular Tire Rack wheels from a quality standpoint.

The Federals are great right? They seem to get a greasy fairly quickly but grip really well before that and are dirt cheap.

Yeah they grip well for about 2-3 hot laps and then the car gets a bit loose. Price was about 450$ shipped for a set of 255s which was pretty unbeatable for the amount of grip you get. About 6 track sessions and still plenty of life left. Only con is they are pretty loud.

Do you have any pictures of the gauge mount installed? I'm looking at getting the sos gauge mount but don't understand how it fits into the factory dash with bolts since the factory piece is a clip in piece.. any input would be appreciated

It was kinda a pain to install. It used like 2 big washers to pinch the plate against the trim. I had to use a bigger washer than the one they provided because it kept slipping off.

Got to test out the Stoptech ST40 Calipers at Laguna Seca on 2/10 on Endless CC43 pads. Shaved off over a second and ran a 1'45.4. Brakes felt good all day long with no fade or any issues. So far pretty satisfied with the progress but will aim to ultimately be in the 1'42s at Laguna Seca and 2'02s at Thunderhill with no aero.
