Hello if your reading this you are tuning into SilliG’s build thread. I will try and keep this updated as much as possible as I make changes or work on my car. A brief history about me I’ve always been fascinated with Japanese sports cars because of there efficiency and there relatively lower cost of ownership. I have owned a few tuner cars in the past some faster than the S2000 but nothing has been as fun or have felt more connected to the road than the S2000. This will be my second time owning a S2000. My first was a 2007 Sliverstone Grey I got it 100% stock at 73k miles that car was my baby. I daily drove it, went on vacations and created a lot of good memories in her. She was so clean until some dildo sideswiped me while I was parked at a subway. It was a hit and run but I managed to snag photos and it all got handled and the person got caught. The car got repaired through a reputable body shop and the repair made it look as good as new. But I always knew in the back of my head that she was tainted.






Fast forward to recently I landed a new job and it required me to relocate from the great state of Maryland! To my new home in the Bay Area here in Northern California. I saw this as a change when the opportunity presented itself and figured I wanted a fresh start. My s2000 was coming up on a 100k miles and my job only shipped one car out so I decided to sell the S2000 and ship out my honda fit (winter car). I figured I would drive that around for awhile until I figured out what I really wanted. I was contemplating on holding out for the Ford Focus RS but something kept bringing me back to the S2000. Being in California with the great weather and roads it didn't take long for me to figure out what I wanted. Convertible , small , light, nimble, could handle well and rear wheel drive. So all roads landed me back to the S2000 which I didn't mind at all. So the car search began! Oh my goodness has the price of these cars kept there values. My first S2000 I bought in the middle of winter from a dealer so I stuck a killer deal. Buying early summer, relatively stock, with low miles, no accidents, 2006 and up and in overall good condition was going to be a challenge but not one I wasn't up to. I also limited my options a lot more for personal reasons. I figure if I was going to start over might as well take my time and get what I truly want which was the laguna blue pearl. Blue is my favorite color and although Silverstone grey was cool every time I saw a laguna blue S2000 a little envy stuck inside of me. So the search began, I found a few but nothing that was reasonably priced in my opinion they all had a color, summer and california “tax” associated with them. I was flying back home for Memorial Day weekend so I started poking around on car websites to see what I can find in the area. Bingo! I hit the jackpot, I found what I was looking for everything met my criteria. The car was posted on a Wednesday, I flew into MD and spoke to the guy on a the phone Friday in depth. Saturday morning my father and I woke at 2am to make a 7hour road trip to go check it out and I ended up making my purchase and drove back. So I ended up with a 2007 Laguna Blue Peal 54k miles, dealer maintained, just recently had the 60k mile service done early, no accidents, only mods were a K&N FPIK and Invidia catback (all stock parts and maintaince paperwork came with the purchase). The car was used as a lake house vehicle and in overall good shape.

So after my long trip and car purchase I enjoyed my memorial day weekend and I flew back home to California. There wasn't much time to rest as soon as I got back to home on the West I had things to do, then travel for work. All I could do was think about is getting my car out here to California in my free time. I started doing research and looking around for a good shipping company found one and got the car shipped out West.






With some help from family back in Maryland the car was safely loaded and headed out here to California.

And after a through wash knocking off the tons of dust accumulated from the trip. So glad to find no damages found from the transport. The company took great care of the car.





Also peek at my roommates very clean and sick supercharged s2000. My car is happy to get to share the garage with a good buddy lol


First things first was getting her legalized here in California. It was quite the education having to deal with a lot the b.s. this state requires to get some plates. Much different than the process I was used to in MD. But after some research and finagling I got through the process and even found a groupon online for a cheap smog test. Don’t pay upwards of $100 some places charge here, it can be found for $20 and no lines with an appointment. I know cheap isn't always better but for a scan of the ECU and a visual inspection of emissions control hardware the prices some places were charging were outrageous.



After a grueling day of the run around with the DMV and paperwork. My roomate showed me around some of the wonderful backroads NorCal/Bay Area has to offer. It was a great unwind from this whole getting back into a S2K process. I was quickly reminded of how great the car was as it felt so alive on the twistys.



So this leads me to today, I am very happy with my purchase and will continue to update as I slowly go along. Next steps are getting her cleaned up more and adding some little things just to make it mines. For now I just enjoying the car as much as possible.

So most recent updates… Just continuing the process of cleaning the car up and enjoying it.

First was removing the annoying NY registration sticker. It was blocking my view on the road with the small windshield. Some goo gone and elbow grease and pooof …gone






Don’t plan to run a front plate (save the bashing for someone who cares). Removed it and installed the front bumper plugs for a much cleaner look. I weighed the plate holder with bolts and it was less than 1lb. Not much weight savings but looks good.








I ended up removing the trunk tire and tools weighing everything.

Then I got curious and wanted actual airbox weight savings.

Only thing left to weigh is stock exhaust vs my indivia catback. But that won’t be happening anytime soon. From the research I’ve done so far it weighs the same as the stock exhaust, which is pretty porky. I’ll look into a new exhaust in the future

I always like the looks of the OEM factory option it gives it the s2000 an updated look while remaining subtle. So I added an oem front lip and a replica wing because I refuse to drill holes in my trunk lid.

First things first while I had the scale out I figured I would continue to be curious and weigh the wing.

Hard to see but the spoiler weighed 1.5lbs


A little before and after of the install and it looks great color matches perfectly. Took a little time to line it up but it was easy and fitment was great.







Next up was the official OEM front lip she weighed 2.3lbs with the lip and all the mounting hardware


One last look and a little before and after of the install. Everything went in smooth no hiccups. It was kind of annoying lining it up alone but in due time it all worked out fine.





I’m pretty pleased with the complete look of the car so far. There’s a lot more to do in getting everything cleaned up but Im enjoying every bit of it so far.



Last but not least a little gift from Honda for remaining loyal.

Also got tired of my AC smelling like a camping trip in the woods and I replaced the in cabin air filter. Didn’t get a chance to weigh it lol sorry.

Thanks, I like your S2000 as well and have read through your build thread. I admire your attention to detail and quality of parts you use. I am in the Bay area as well so maybe we will run into each other one day.

But weight is something often overlooked a lot, and people tend to forget that things add up if you shave weight off here and there.
