I've had this clicking sound every time I opened the driver side since I purchased the car. Not only was it extremely annoying, it made the car feel cheap and flimsy every time I opened the car. It really diminished my impression of the car's overall build quality.

Surprisingly this doesn't seem to be a very common occurence and I found very little information in my searches. I wasn't even sure of what this particular part was called. I did find the two following threads, which were helpful:

http://www.extremeprelude.com/doorstrap.html
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/279...#entry17057258

According to the WSM it's called a detent rod, the official part numbers call it a door checker, another site calls it a door check strap.

Part #s:

Driver side: 72380-S30-003 - Honda CHECKER, L. DOOR
Passenger side: 72340-S30-003 - Honda CHECKER, R. DOOR

Installation is very simple. First remove the door panel ( https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/483...nent-speakers/ ), then remove the front speaker. Remove 2 10mm bolts holding the checker to the front door and then 1 12mm bolt on the front fender. Reach in and remove the old checker.

Installation is the exact opposite. The WSM didn't publish any torque specs that I could see, so I just tightened them until they were snug.

Extremely happy now.

My clutch has been quite sticky near the bottom of the travel of the pedal, extremely firm and squeaks occasionally especially when cold. Found this thread a week or two back: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/370...-clutch-pedal/

Read through the entire thread and found some more detailed steps (https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/370...#entry20952445) and to be careful not to let the piston come out after removing the rod to clean up. If it comes out and you lose any fluid, you'll have to bleed the system. I used a zip-tie to hold the piston in place, worked great.

After removing the rod and rubber boot, I was shocked at the thick, slugdy grease. No wonder it was so sticky and required so much effort. After cleaning up the ball end of the rod with some coarse and fine sand paper, I liberally greased everything with Honda high temp urea. Also all the rubber boots were fully intact and in excellent shape so no need for replacement. I also used a thin paint brush and carefully ( or at least the best I could do given the tiny space and crawling under the car ) put grease on the tips of the release fork and spindle in the fork.

Put everything back together and what a difference. The clutch pedal is now sticky free and the movement is buttery smooth. The amount of effort is significantly reduced, the action is firm but extremely light. All squeaks are gone as well.

Driving is much more enjoyable now and the clutch feels like a brand new car, so smooth, never experienced a smoother better feeling clutch pedal.

Random notes:

Torque for the two 12mm bolts that hold the slave cylinder: 16 ft/lbs
Honda high temp urea grease part #: 08798-9002

Skunk2 Shift Knob + twist Shift Boot Adapter from k-series parts:

Love the knob, but hated how the top of the boot just kinda flopped around. Found this interesting adapter from k series parts and decided to order one to try out. A bit overpriced I feel at $15, but honestly looks and works great. Was just a bit narrow, but I wrapped the soft end of some velcro strips with an adhesive backing on the bottom of the adapter it holds and tensions the top of the boot perfectly.

I think it looks much cleaner and more importantly keeps the shift boot away from my hand, which I hate the feeling of when I drive.

I'm happy with the overall combination.

EDIT: The adapter rattled on the shift lever and there was as tiny bit of play, which I believe was causing it. Took some more of the soft velcro with adhesive on the back and carefully stuck it inside the adapter where it comes into contact with the lever. No more rattling!
