Default //steve\\ - 4th Time's a charm? - 09 GPW

I've been around these cars far too long now to know they are special and it will be hard to not have one in the garage. Many of you know I sold my '06 Sebring a few months ago. I only sold it because I had a replacement lined up that was worth picking up.

This now makes S2000 #4
-#1 2005 Silverstone
-#2 2006 Berlina
-#3 2006 Sebring

About 6 weeks ago I picked up DougEFresh's 09 GPW. The car was in a far different state as what is seen below. Doug had long sold all of the Mugen goodies and it was in the midst of being put back together in a more simple form. Doug and I had been chatting about me buying his car for months and I'm glad we could make it all work out. Thanks Doug! I know you know it's in good hands. This car is easily one of my favorite specs, GPW with the black/red two tone interior. The 08/09 is by far my favorite variation of the black/red offered in any of the years.

A huge thanks goes out to Kevin (av8ter) who lined up a trailer and lent his time and truck to pick it up. Also thanks to another local, Alex, for letting me borrow his stock wheels.

Here it is on the way home

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The car was bought in a bit of a project car state. I intend to keep this fairly simple much like the last one. Stock exterior, good suspension parts, nice wheels, and a few bolt-ons. I kept majority of the parts off the Sebring so many of them will be going right back on this one.

Much like I did with my Sebring the first thing was to get it cleaned up in all the places no one will ever see. Remove everything one can unbolt in the engine bay, clean, and then wax/seal it.

Also, much like the Sebring, there were a few parts I wanted to touch up and repaint before the car went back together. Namely the bumper beams and brackets under the headlights. There is so little paint on these parts from the factory they tend to get a little rusty. I can't imagine there are very many S2000s out there cleaner than this is in all these places no one will ever see. It's a bit over the top but that's how I like it. Lots of new clips and nuts/bolts as well.

A few of the new parts to go on the car

Toda 60>70mm TP

T1R 70EM single - I've owned 3 or 4 others of these over the years and it's always been my favorite in terms of look/sound. It's cool to finally have one brand new.

One of the headaches to registered a car in GA is that you have to have a passed emissions test to get tags. Because this car had been in pieces and the battery unplugged I have to get all of the readiness monitors clear. It looks like I only have one more to go which should still let me pass here (you can have one fault). Fingers crossed but the car should get tags this week.
