Thank you gents.

I do have a question for you wheel experts. I'm seeing these advan and volks being offered in 17x9 and 17x10 and from the replies, most prefer the 17x10 sizing. Is there an advantage to that size?

Can you explain how it is "faster"?

A 255 on a 10" wheel is slightly stretched which improves feel, turn in, and that slight stretch improves the overall grip of the tire. Basically, more of the tires contact patch is utilized by being stretched.

My initial guess was the tire stretch but just how much faster are we talking about? I can't believe it can realized at my level of driving at an autox event. Is this more apparent at track day? As always, looking for reasons to buy new mods.

It depends on whether or not you are fully utilizing the 255 on a 9" wheel in the first place. Also depends on what tire you are using, tire pressure, alignment and other things. But like most mods, someone on 9" wheels could very likely turn as quick a lap on 9" wheels, but on 10" wheels they might be able to do it more consistently.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will need more negative camber up front if I go wider. I don't remember the exact number (can't find the sheet anymore) but I think it's at -2.1 up front. It rubs occasionally already. The rear is fine. I have the Dunlop Z2 star spec and was thinking about trying out the latest Bridgestone potenzas if I were to get another set of wheels. Something to think about when I get bored this winter.
