My 1972 CB450 cafe racer build
Hey guys
This is my first time posting in this thread. I'm not sure if there is much interest in these old bikes...
This is my most recent bike project. A 1972 CB450 that I'm rebuilding and restoring into a cafe racer of sorts.
I found the bike in very rough shape so i decided to go over every aspect. Everything has been (or will be) rebuilt or replaced. Fully rebuilt engine and trans (vapour blasted cases), powdercoated chassis components, stainless spokes, hard-chromed suspension stanchions etc. The rear cafe "cowl" and fender were made by hand on my English wheel from 18ga sheet metal.
This is how i first found the bike in northern Ontario, Canada.
And as it sits now. Only major things left are upholstery and paint.

Fantastic!! Looks legit.
A nice brown leather seat to match the grips, maybe with some rivets on it. Shame you can't just clear the tank and rear cowl, that color w/o paint looks perfect. Raw metal.

Thats the plan. I do leather work as a hobby as well and have the perfect color for the seat to match the grips.
I have considered clearing the raw steel...if it wasn't for a dimple in the tank (that requires filler) i would likely go this route.

It's a "vintage" machine and doesn't need to be perfect. Consider the dimple character.
