Picked up a new '14 Yamaha FZ-09
Long story short... sold my 600RR last year since I grew tired of the super sport riding position after a while, but I loved the performance. Sucked because my neck would just take a beating from the riding position after a while and I got tired of getting beat up. After being without a bike, I started looking for something new since spring had arrived and it was painful seeing everyone out having fun on 2 wheels but me. I knew I wanted a naked bike, I knew I wanted something with an upright riding position, and I knew I wanted to retain the performance I had with my RR. The CB1000R had really become the bike of choice for me, but with a $12k price tag, I wasn't sure if I wanted to pull the trigger or not. While I was up at the local dealership that had a 1000R, I was walking out and one of the sales guys said to me, "hey, have you seen the new Yamaha FZ-09?" I had not. We went over to look at it and I instantly fell in love with it. Had the naked look I wanted and was quite similar in appearance to the 1000R, it was an 850cc bike... just 150cc shy of the 1000R, it was about $4k LESS than the 1000R, and... it was an inline triple! Sadly they wouldn't let me test ride it so I went home and did some research... a week later I came home with it as a birthday gift from my wife
So far I've clocked about 300 miles on it and I absolutely love it! Would be more if it would stop raining (sorry, not as die hard as some, I prefer nice weather to ride). It's torquey as hell and very wheelie happy... 1st gear if you goose it at any point in the RPM range, the front wheel just comes right up. Same story around 6K+ in 2nd gear. Cornering is great too. I think my favorite thing about this bike is I don't feel like I made any compromises with it... I got to keep the performance I wanted, with a more upright and comfortable ride. I also really dig the naked look. Here's a few pics... I got it in "Liquid Graphite" with the "Yamaha Blue" wheels... which can look purple in some lighting so they're more "blurple" to me

Probably one of my new favorite bikes that is out right now. Good for Yamaha for making a bike like this. The other Japanese three keep making the same crap and it is neat to see Yamaha make this bike.
A few weeks back, a guy on his new FZ9 tried keeping up with me on my 14r. Not close, but what a great bike.

Grats on the new bike, I really like the new FZ09s. Had they came out a couple years earlier I may very well have gotten one over my Trumpet. Either way, I'm glad to see more sport nakeds available in the US. Def the way to go for a quick street bike.

One of my favorite bikes out right now. I'd like to trade my zx6r on one in a couple years. The only minor thing i think thats "off" about this bike is the gauge cluster. But other than that
