I'm looking for another motorcycle to purchase, and I stumble across a newer model, very nice bike. The lady says it's in immaculate condition with everything, no problems at all. I get in touch with her and among other things that shouldn't be put on blast on the internet, she moved to a different state and is selling her bike through ebay and needs all of my info (full name, address, and number), and she will have ebay ship the bike to me for free, including ALL of the paperwork, including notorized and signed title, service records, etc.. Also, I can keep the bike for 5 days and if I don't like it, I can have it shipped back for free at no cost to me at all. Obviously I can just keep the bike, not give her any money, and signed the bike over to my name extremely easily.

So, obviously that just sounds like a formula for a terrible scam. I just wanted to ask you guys what you think this person could be after if it is a scam?....


..and if it's not a scam, why are people so idiotic?

Give it to her and find out? Seriously, anyone that falls for ebay paying shipping costs is a complete dumbass. The whole thing sounds sketchier than the prince in Dubai that is leaving you his fortune. In the end once you give her the information (not even a female im sure) you will 1. never see a bike 2. never see any paperwork and 3. be looking at your personal information popping up halfway across the world.
On another note, if you would seriously consider keeping the bike if this were to happen (which it wont) you're no better than they are as I'm sure 99% of the world would consider that left. And lastly, sending a notarized "Open" title is illegal as well in many states.

Don't give any info. It is a scam and you don't want scammers and thieves knowing where you live and your personal info.

I bought my Ducati from a seller 4 states away (not on ebay). I booked a RT air ticket (return in case it was a scam / not as advertised), had them pick me up, paid in person, and rented a truck to take it home. No way I would take a chance with someone 1. being legitimate with my $$ and 2. shipping something like a motorcycle without causing damage to it.

I have never heard of anyone doing this. But this smells like a scam a mile away. I would stay away.
