That's why we always stress "don't follow too closely!" There are a couple sections that are pretty rough. The one section that was down to one lane last fall is now open in both directions, but is still one of the rough sections. Now there's another section that is down to one lane (it's not as long as the other one, i.e. you can actually see whether or not there's any traffic on the other end) and it is covered in loose gravel. These two sections are marked very well in advance, so no worries about coming up on them unexpectedly (unless you're blind and don't see the bright orange signs).

Additionally, there are quite a few rough places on other sections of the afternoon route as well. Personally, I would be open to consider a change to the entire afternoon route to eliminate these sections, but if it remains as is, we'll just have to deal with them and proceed through them very cautiously and slowly. Also, there's still a lot of sand and gravel leftover from the winter storms, but hopefully most of that will be washed away prior to March 27th with some good rainfall.

Alright, time for pre-drive pix. Enjoy!

It is hard to find a road that doesn't have ANY loose gravel on a BMT rotue. There are a few spots where you have to be careful, but yes, distance is the key.
