I once lost a center cap during a drive.
It projected off my wheel on a bumpy road far up onto a hill.
My passenger saw it fly off from the rear passenger wheel and it apparently looked like a ninja star.
In my neighborhood, they lifted my car cover, stole my side markers, and returned the car cover. I guess the thieves in different towns have different priorities.
