Driving Gloves
So, I've been looking into wearing gloves while driving.
I've never ever liked wearing gloves, but I feel like trying it. My history with gloves is as follows: 1. When I used to play baseball, I would always prefer no-gloves, but I liked to use abnormal amounts of pine-tar, and ended up having to wear batting gloves to cope with the stickiness. I never wore fielding or base running gloves. The brand of batting gloves I wore were Mizuno's. 2. When I used to mountain bike, I would prefer no gloves, but it got so damn freezing on cold morning/night rides, that I would end up wearing gloves because I was tired of frost bitten hands that didn't work as well as warm-blooded ones. The brand I wore were Fox Racing. 3. When I was a little kid riding my 5hp go kart every day, I went without gloves for the most part, but somehow ended up using that baseball player's pine tar on the steering wheel, thus necessitating that I wear the baseball bating gloves. 4. I used to go to the driving range sometimes (golf). I have no patience for the game of golf (putting, namely), and I like to just smash on the range with my Happy Gilmore wind up. I would always work up a mean blister because I'm using a baseball homerun swing with a golf angle. I invested in a single shitty white golf glove so I would not destroy the skin on my hands at the range. Only a few times, I got called out as weak Michael Jackson impersonator, I guess the glove just isn't enough. This shitty white glove actually started deteriorating and flaking white faux-leather all over my previous car, so I ditched it in favor of going "au naturel". And I write to you because of a recent revelation and thought process... After hearing that Justin mention Alpine Stars, I realized that the brand name "Alpine Stars" is almost a perfect match for the "Alpine Speed Stars" phenomenon, not to mention Alpine Star is actually a legit company that makes gloves for motorsports. I'm more set on finding a pair of gloves that fits comfortably than I am wearing a "A*" on my mitts, but sometimes things are just meant to be. I was wondering if any of ya'll knew a brick-and-mortar store that I can try driving gloves on at (on the Peninsula)? I'm not opposed to Sparco/Fox, and others, I just want to try some on at an (expensive) racing shop, then actually buy a set from a (decently priced) online shop? I've seen the shop at Infineon Raceway but was too distracted at the time to try anything on. Thoughts anyone? :hello: |
Something tells me there wold be sweet irony if I wore "deerskin" gloves.
Those four legged punks are always in my way when I'm trying to drive. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...Y5AYHMERKF3W47 |

I was like a kid in a candy store in that store. That damn store made me buy a GoPro (but of course patience paid off and I went on Amazon and saved $65) I'm hoping for a similar outcome here! |

Prior to purchasing my gloves, I went to the store at Infenion and to IOPort Racing in oakland (I think) to try various gloves on before making my decision.
