If you are looking for track day/HPDE instruction, I would recommend NASA. This is the group that I run with. They have very good begineer instructors and you can be assured you will have an instructor all the time unlike other organizations. I will most like be up at Thunderhill for the Sept 10th-11th event. I think Thunderhill would be a good place for your first track day as there is a lot of runoff room and since the track if fairly long, it would be less crowded. You are welcome to hang out with me and the rest of the Honda Challenge guys if you decide to do it.

I would also like to recommend going thru NASA. You won't believe how much your car can do after the first couple laps. I will be at Infineon on Aug 7th and maybe Thunderhill on Sept 11th.... See you guys there!

If you haven't had ANY high performance driving training, I'd recommend something less risky than a track day. I've seen a lot of cars driven up and then towed home with body damage.
Some alternatives:
1. Autocrosses to practice car control in a low risk environment.
2. The local BMWCCA chapter also has car control clinics which are open to all makes
3. Take an 'intro to karting' school at Sears with Russell Racing

The rules state that rollbars are needed for us. Are the stock ones good enough? I know, stupid question, but I just have to be sure.

For anyone looking to go to the 10/8 Sears Point event, I suggest signing up early. It will most like sell out in the next 2-3 weeks. If this is your first event, I would personally suggest staying away from Sears Point. There isn't a lot of runoff room in case you make a mistake.
