info for norcal/east bay
 

hi all, i'm a long-time owner whose car has been hibernating in IL for the last 10 years. been in the bay almost two years now and i'm considering finally bringing it out. couple questions, if anyone would be so kind as to answer! i checked the stickies for info but they all seem to be out-of-date.

• who are the go-to mechanics/shops? will need a thorough check up and some maintenance. preferably close-ish to oakland, but anywhere around here probably fine
• i know i'll have to replace my test pipe with the OEM cat. how about my exhaust and intake mods, are those legal here?
• is there any kind of theft problem here? back in IL we had a huge issue with car thefts. i'll have a garage but still.
• anything else??

Hi and welcome! You'll find a lot of great roads here!
1. Shops like Joey's @ South San Francisco Acro, Blacktrax in Milpitas, and Rogue Motorsports can help you with your needs.
2. Just set the original cat back on, smog, then you can run test pipe for 2 years til you have to do it again :)
3. Car thefts aren't a huge problem, but if you have a garage then you should be fine.

Elite Performance (Burlingame) is my go to shop for all my maintenance/mods/alignment/track prep.
Intake and exhaust or most performance mods are not legal but some shops wont look and just let you go.

trackspec autosports, fremont

Joey for general fast in and out maintenance
Elite Performance for suspension, powertrain, race prep if you are in SF
TracSpec if you are in fremont area, but they are quite pricey
BlackTrax if you need dyno tuning and fabrication in fremont
Mario (roguemotorsport) is a cool guy to go to as well.
