keeping personalized license plate after

how do i go about doing this?

just keep it or go to DMV and say you want to take "xxx" plates off the car but would like to keep the plates assigned to you. You have to pay a retention fee IIRC.

speaking of... why the hell can't I put symbols on it anymore except for the stupid kids plate, and even then that's only at the beginning.

You can put it anywhere but it has to be the kids plate. Who forced you to put it only in the front?

Just out of curiosity, what do your plates say?

so the new owner would drive without plates and this would be ok?

yeah as long as the owner has registration and whatevers on hand, it won't be a big deal. get the owner to get to DMV asap after sale to get a "Temporary Operating Permit" the square piece of paper with a number on it representing a month. so if it had a 5 on it, it would be good until the end of may.
Its safe to say that a peace officer wouldn't be d-bag enough to tow your car on the day the car's bought. just make sure that the owner does registration asap and there should be no problem.

say you lost it haha

you can keep the plate, just go to dmv n tell them you want it off the car, the plate is in your procession and isnt allowed to any other owner unless you sign it over to them.
