HPDE#1 Infineon 6/11/2011 - Audio was recorded at a low volume to compensate for wind noise. Session 1 - First two laps were paced. Skip to 8:30 for full speed stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Km2pmAk9oY4 Session 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzX-g6HqzJc |
Buttonwillow CW13, 2:14:086. I'm confident there's another 5+ seconds in the setup as my skills improve. Staggered, no wing.

Here's my final session of the day from the BlackTrax Test & Tune at Thunderhill from November 18th.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7H5rE2l9jU Not my quickest session. My tire pressures were far too high for the day but I had a blast my first time to Thunderhill and my first time driving the S2000 on track. I was pretty conservative most of the day. On the beginning of my third lap of the session my low fuel indicator came on so I slowed down at the end of it and coasted around back to the pits. My quickest times of the day were around 2'12.x-2'13.x but with better use of the track and braking zones (and proper tire pressure) I think I should be well under 2'10 in a stock S2000. The custom GT5 style HUD is something I have been playing around with so this was a good opportunity to use it. Measures lap time within 1/24th in this case with 24fps (.042 seconds). Camera is a GoPro Hero2 mounted to my helmet recording 1080-24fps ProTune, sharpening added back in GoPro cineform studio and simple color correction done in After Effects. Also a slight EQ applied to remove some wind noise. |
Kind of boring to watch if your of a more professional driver than myself but I'm a first timer so sue me! :D I averaged one of my laps to be 2:29 judging by one my laps with the tires warmed up and all..
A misshift or two and I went off once.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VziQzJzqa8g Here is one from NCRC's 4/28 Thunderhill Trackday https://vimeo.com/65095664 3rd time @ Thunderhill.. (Blacktrax test and tune 6) Novemeber 17, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiSee...ature=youtu.be |

Here is my video from recent trip to Laguna:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4kTkz9Z3Is&hd=1 My first time driving at Laguna Seca in my 2006 AP2 Honda S2000. All stock except 225F/255R Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires, and Project µ HC+800 brake pads front and rear. My quickest recorded lap for the day was a 1:49.970, but the lap was really mild with no excellent sectors, there is still a lot of time to be gained. My target is a low 1:47.* with my car in it's stock configuration. Lots of corners that can be taken flat or with a partial lift with a perfect line and turn in. Lots of places where I can carry a lot more momentum. I am using a Qstarz lap timer that I was renting from CityTech (http://citytechautobody.com/) the event organizers, and combining my fastest sectors in a single session I was seing 1:46-1:47 optimal laps, so should be fun to get back out there and hunt down the time! After my quick lap, there are some highlights, a nice chase with a powerful Golf GTI, and me trying to keep up with a much faster and nicely tuned AP2 S2000, with J's Racing CRUX coilovers (16kg springs), and Advan A048 255 tires all around, and various other well chosen modifications and weight reduction. My brakes were the biggest limiting factor but that was to be expected at Laguna, less to do with my choice in pads and more to do with how I was braking most of the day in a stock car. I will be using Project µ Club Racers on my next Laguna visit most likely. Next time I will better manage my tire and brake temperatures and only do a few hot laps at a time to get a better chance at an optimal lap. |

Edwin needs to update his times!!

Figured it was time to contribute a new video that isn't so cringe inducing. Two years and eight track days make a huge difference, but I still have much to learn. You'll see what I mean when I hit turn 1 following the end of the lap. :drive:
For those of you who are interested, here are the components I used to capture my telemetry data and incorporate it into my video. GoPoint BT1 Bluetooth OBDII Sensor - *Bus powered so it gets juice from the car Dual Solutions XGPS150A - Standalone GPS device with its own battery. Upgradeable to 5Hz via firmware update (actual upgrade only gets you 4Hz.) If you want super accurate GPS data, get the XGPS160 instead. Harry's Lap Timer Rookie Edition for iOS - I used this solution to collect my telemetry and export the data in .csv format. This software has a learning curve and requires configuration before it will accurately collect data. Give yourself plenty of time to get acquainted with the app or you will be disappointed with the results. iPhone 4 - Very glad I kept this bad boy. Came in handy and was more than capable of simultaneously collecting the OBD and GPS data. The iPhone also provided HLT with G-force data using the iPhone's internal accelerometer. RaceRender 2 - This app brings your video and telemetry data together and provides you with multiple overlay options. The ultimate version comes with an overlay design tool for you creative types. I found RaceRender to be much easier to use than Dashware, not to mention half the price. RaceRender v3 is supposed to be released soon. . And in case you were wondering, this setup will work with Android devices as well. Enjoy! |

bringing back a old thread from the dead. Two clips from buttonwillow last month, it was cold as hell and my rs3s had no more fight left in them. They were on their 9th day and over a year and a half old. First video I did a 2:01 second was a 2:02, plenty of errors and what not but oh well. Once the weather clears up a bit Ill be back at it. Be sure to watch in HD

Resuscitated again!
Felt good about this 1:26.5 at Thunderhill West. Third time there for me. Rob-2 and I rented out the track for ourselves for the whole day and it was a total blast. Beat my PB by 3 seconds. The only streetable-S2000 I've seen on Youtube that went faster was the gonzo Trackspec Autosports S2000, and it was only .1-.2 seconds quicker despite way more aero, exhaust, bigger wheels, etc. I'm sure there are faster laps that just aren't online, but I'm allowing myself to feel a sense of personal accomplishment anyway. ;) Can't wait to get back and continue to work on lines and consistent weight transfer at corner entry. |
Wow, mind asking how much you rent the entire track for? Also, does the car in the video have the King Pin spherical bushings?

Damn Gary, you're killing it man! What's your current setup? You seem a gear up from me on certain corners, I'm wondering if it's power, aero, grip, final drive, or all of the above...
My current PB at Sonoma is 1:57, but the car is still essentially stock No video from my Laguna PB but I'm at 1:48.0 with plenty of seconds to be shaved still. You're running some great times, I'm impressed. :) |

According to his YT video description, RE71r's! The more I see stock S do great lap times, the more encouraging it is for me to achieve one day.
Look forward to your LS lap times. Cheers, Alex |
Thanks guys! They are indeed RE71Rs in stock stagger, 215/245.

Cool experience to drive West backwards, BTW. I'll post a video when I get around to it. We drove backwards using the long straight configuration that launches the car into the air right before the brake zone. :) |

Knocked a couple tenths off Thunderhill West on Friday. It was a hot day and the tires have 4 days on them, so I'm guessing there's a 1:25 in there somewhere. Here's a 1:26.35.

Well done! I've still yet to run West, looks like a really fun, technical layout. I'll be running the East course with Speed SF on Friday in case anyone's joining.

I will say the stock AP2 gearing seems to require awkward shifts at Sonoma. |

I'm brand new here, picked up a 2008 with 37k on it a few months ago and took it straight to the track. I feel this is a good place for an intro post :)
First time out I managed was a 1:48.2 at Laguna, bone stock on RE050s. I chunked the hell out of the poor RE050s and will be going back on 9/2 with some Z3s. I'm guessing they'll put down a 1:46 or so. Sorry about video quality! Spot exposure was on, but the damn mount kept slipping around. |

Yeah I find if I want to go in tight on turn 2 I would have to slow down a lot more. I'm able to go in at a higher speed and hold most of the speed through the turn. The last turn I use as much space as possible so I can hold all the speed I can. Not having a wing I find the lines are definitely going to be different and I have to use as much of the track as possible. I borrowed a friends wing and ran it for the first time a month or 2 ago and the grip is just phenomenal.
