Recaro spg or pole position?

Hey guys just wondering for those who have owned or sat in both seats, which one was more comfortable? Which one would you recommend for a daily driver that will also work well at the track?

Also, for those who have the spg, how much does it rub the center console/door if you don't mount it off center? I don't really want to do that. Which rail is recommended?

Thanks!

SOHCmyDOHC 10-03-2010 03:36 PM

They are both fine. Just mainly depends on your waist. IIRC the pole position is basically a bigger SPG.

I went to LA in an SPG and I was fine.

chuhsi 10-03-2010 08:24 PM

spg rubs on the door area and glove box enough to notice. both are fine for daily driver as long as you fit in it.

Pole Position is easier to live with from a DD point of view. Besides being a little bit wider, the leg side bolster is lower, so it makes it easier to get in and out of the car.

Thanks for the replies.
Comfort is important but I don't want to sacrifice too much seat performance for it. Is the pole position MUCH more comfortable? I fit in both.

:iagree:

I also DD my car with pole positions and I love them. If I were to get another set of bucket seats for another car, I would definitely pick the pole positions again. If you want you can come to our Friday milpitas meet and check out the seat.

theonlineguy 10-03-2010 10:53 PM

Try your luck at the Friday meet :D

hellspare 10-03-2010 11:51 PM

Looks like I'll be rolling out to milpitas this weekend. ;)

Thanks guys!

Definitely get the Pole Position ~ if you ever sat in Vu's car you'll know why :)

I'm buying a set of Pole Positions for my s2000 next.

hellspare 10-09-2010 11:41 AM

Thanks Vu for letting me try out his seat.

The pole positions were really comfy, but I felt they were just a little big for me. Something just a littttle bit tighter would be perfect. Does anybody have a spg in their s2000 that I could possibly try out?

na3j nitsuj 10-09-2010 12:23 PM

Maybe Anish will show up next week. You can ask him to try out his seat.

Okay :p

I really do like the pole position though. They're not super snug but I imagine they'd be perfect for DD. Wouldn't mind rocking one, but I want to try out the spg before purchasing.

Sure thing. The SPG is a ball pincher if you're in it for long hauls. You know, the expansion rates over time due to heat built up while your .. um, "items" are insulated by your thighs.. yeah, we'll stop with that much imagery.

I've got a 31-32 waist and normal hips, to the best of my knowledge, so the Shakira/Beyonce songs wouldn't apply to my waist. Yeah, sorry for that image as well. Your thighs may feel a bit tight and pinched in a longer drive.

Unless your a 29 waist or so, for DD I'd recommend the Pole Positions. Try out the seats, take the car for a spin around the lot and let your.. um, items decide. I barely use the car on the street, it's primarily for track use and the occasional group drive setup by our fearless leader, Mac Daddy... who is apparently pissed at me today, and nearly every other day.

Ouch, sounds uncomfortable.. :p

If you're a 31-32 and it's a ball pincher on longer drives, maybe I should reconsider. I'm about a 33-34.

I'm willing to trade off the performance for much more comfort, since my car is mainly a daily.

I'll have to do some thinking.

If you know anyone w/ a SPARCO sprint seat I would say it is close to what an SPG is like fitment wise. The SPG i think has a tad bit more room than the sparco sprint.

Everyone on this thread has been talking about the size of the SPG vs PP.

Are there any comments/complaints about where the belt guides are? I was thinking about buying a set of PP seats but am hearing that the slots at the shoulders are low, to the point where it's either not safe or not comfortable when using a harness. Anyone have experience with this?

boyguan 04-23-2012 07:49 PM

I sat in a spg xl an let me say it was so comfortable and I have a 36 waist. I wanted to see if anyone got it to fit in the s but no response. Try that seat out

Voodoo_S2K 04-23-2012 08:32 PM

SPG XL will not fit in an S if you want to retain the interior.

Yup, get some side bolsters from F1 spec, or some random other place. You'll be all snug in your PP.

My question is for anyone who uses a harness with their Pole Position seats.

How does the harness feel at the shoulders in the Pole Positions?

How gorgeous! These have got to be my dream seats... How do you order custom fabrics on the pole position? Can't seem to find any info. I'd love to get the PP in alcantara. Please point me to the right direction! And what rails did you use? Thanks
