Default Screeching noise from driver-side rear wheel

Hello.
On my way home, I noticed that there was metalic screeching noise coming from the driver side rear wheel. It sounds really similar to the noise that you get when it requires brake pad replacement.
It seems like there's something that is scraping the rotor.
The noise occurs at a certain rhythm.
The faster the wheel rotates, the faster the rhythm gets.
Anyone experienced this problem?
Any help is appreciated.

Well I wouldn't drive it anymore without taking off the wheel and having a look. You'll probably need to lift the caliper to see if the pads are in good shape/obstructed.

It could be a number of things, dirt/dust between the rotor and pad. Or it could be the brake sensor doing its job.

Thanks guys,
Update: it "magaically" went away~. I was able to hear it when I was heading out to work this morning. But by the time when I got to work, it was gone!
I think it was dirt or something got stuck like you guys mentioned.
BTW, I called Larry Hopkins this morning to set up a service appointment for the screeching noise. They were not willing to provide a loaner.
I am cancelling the appointment for now.

BTW, I got my antenna mast stolen last night at SCU!
Are there a lot ricers at SCU? I am doing my evening MBA there.
