Just shop around for a competitive quote and don't buy into the "Well, the other shippers can't guarantee that your car will get on a truck" bullshit they give you. I went with the cheapest guys I could find when I shipped my S's (3 to date, all without incident.)

From Virginia it was $1100 and over a week (2007)
From NY it was just under $1000 and a week (2009)
From LA it was $500 and 3 days (2010)

I'm fixing to ship my 2006 from Cleveland to Richmond in a closed carrier. Montway is the carrier. Got a dozen quoted via some website and all were in the $500 range. Several posts on this forum recommend them.

I used Montway as well shipping my AP2 from east to west coast a few years back. They have some bad reviews but I had a really good experience with them. I paid $1200 but I went with the enclosed carrier that they offer for more protection. Also the enclosed carrier can accommodate lowered cars since it has a lift. The nonenclosed carriers just use a ramp so if the car is lowered its something to keep in mind.

Good to know about the closed carrier which is my plan. Can ain't lowered but is darn low in OEM condition. Waiting on their phone call to pick up the car. I have a delivery requirement (late week day) not a pickup requirement. I have to haul a travel trailer 500 miles to my new house to meet the car carrier and need to have it delivered just before a weekend.
