Default Soft Top patching

HI, I noticed there is some normal wear on the soft top from the bar. It hasnt tear yet but I could see a tiny hole on the driver, therefore i planned to patch it from the inside.
Anyone of you guys have done the patching before?
What kind of vinyl and glue did you used?
I read couple post on the forum and some folks recommend E600 and marine vinyl.
Just want to gather more info before i start the job.

BTW did anyone send it to a shop to patch?

Thanks

I used this silicone adhesive: https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-8115...icone+adhesive

because it was recommended to me by members here.

I used actual vinyl cut outs from an s2000 top. Someone here was selling a bunch of squares so I grabbed a few. All repairs were done from the inside. If the hole is small, you wont notice it at all from the outside. Use enough adhesive to be able to spread out all over the patch; you want a 100% coverage/seal.

My s2000 is unfortunately not garage kept so I have suffered several tears despite hardly putting the soft top down(only a hand full of times a year). I have patched 4 holes now and all have worked great as far as I know. now I need more patches but cant find anyone selling any =[

In addition, have you checked the relevant bar ends for sharp edges and burrs, and smoothed them out? After reading the TSB, I checked and found mine were really nasty and sharp.

Try Mr. Stitch in San Mateo. He patched both sides of my soft top (only one was needed, the other was for prevention) from the inside with a similar vinyl fabric and gave me a great price.

IC, did you lose your top in order to smooth the edges?

I had my top patched, both to seal small holes and to prevent new ones, by Mr. Stitch and I highly recommend his work. For $60 and an hour's wait, he'll make your top pretty much impervious to the usual S2000 wear spots.

I have pieces of a vinyl top that came off a '04. I'm giving them away for free for anyone who wants to use them for patches. Oh and I'm located in the east bay
